Pinback 是非常好的

We went to a supercool concert last week (we being Molly, Kelli, Xiaomeng, the Gu and I). Pinback played at the Granada in Lawrence.

I ecoute la musique beaucoup; yet I've only been to about ten bona fide concerts. They've all been supercool.

Do you like music? What do you like about music? Can you play an instrument? Do you like to sing in the shower? What do you sing?

While I didn't get to see Pinback, I did go to String Break down by Cassody. Lots of cool bands, mostly various types of bluegrass. Lots of hippies dancing in the rain. As I am not a hippy, I didn't do a lot of dancing. In fact, this weekend confirmed that I am definately not a hippy. I agree with much that resides in the average hippy, crunchy granola goodness and a peace loving spirit of good will. However, I just can't do the hippy thing.

The music was amazing though. And, it is the first Sunday of the month, so I got to see lots and lots of cool bikes headed to breakfast in Cassoday. I wish I could be a biker. Alas, I just can't get into leather and bugs. Oh well, I'll just have to enjoy being a backseat rider now and then.

And, since you asked, my new "History of The Clash" is still residing in slots one and two of my cd player, followed by Nina Simone and the Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs. Slot five is curiosly empty, which is unusual for me. But, Johnny Cash has been lurking about for a while now, so I might just let him in for a bit. Ooh, or maybe The Cowboy Junkies. It could go either way.

to answer your questions:
yes.
to me, music, like visual art, is the creative expression of an idea or concept. i have argued this point at length (the author of this blog was present at one of these arguments), and am open to correction, but have yet to come across a better definition. Mostly though, I love art and music because not only is it the expression of an artist, but the viewer has to confront that expression and in turn confront his/her feelings about that confrontation.
yes: cello, harmonica, kazoo (sp?)
yes
G.F.Handel's Messiah and Prince's "kiss"

caragh, you're a total hippie: you drive a late-model oldsmobile, have two dell computers, and work at walmart. that kind of shameless consumerism is a trademark of any true hippie, and you're in denial. be proud in your hippiness.

philip, you're not interestinglyenough to get a response right now. i'm trying to remember why i (apparently) disagreed with your highfalutin theory of everything er whatever. that and why i hung out with a guy who liked prince.

you didn't disagree, you argued my side with me, it was Rausch at Tom's cabin in Missouri (not to be confused with Uncle Tom).
